About SplitWithUs

SplitWithUs settles the money after a group trip. One person enters the receipts, the tool works out who owes whom, and the rest of the group gets a link they can open without signing up. That is the whole product, and it is deliberately small.

Why it exists

After most trips, somebody ends up with a phone full of card alerts in three currencies, a few paper receipts and a group chat asking "so how much do I owe?". The usual answers are a spreadsheet that one person understands, or an app that everyone has to install and join first. Neither explains why a number is what it is, which is exactly the question that starts arguments.

SplitWithUs is built around that question. Every receipt is converted at the rate of the day it was paid, every cent of rounding is placed by a published rule, and anyone in the group can open the working behind their own number. The rules are written out on the methodology page.

What it does, and what it does not

• It works in the browser. There is no account, and nothing you type leaves your device unless you create a share link.
• It handles receipts in 154 currencies, splits them between everyone or chosen groups (a room, a car, the people who ordered drinks), and reduces the result to a short list of transfers.
• It does not move money, connect to a bank, or give financial advice. It tells you who should send what.

Who runs it

SplitWithUs is built and run by one independent developer based in South Korea. It is free to use and paid for by the advertising on the site; there is no premium tier and no data for sale. The same developer also makes AdPrepare, a set of guides and checks for small websites preparing for ad review. SplitWithUs is written to the same rules it recommends: every page says what it does, where its numbers come from, and where its limits are.
