These terms apply when you use splitwithus.net. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

What the service is

SplitWithUs is a free calculator for dividing shared expenses. It converts receipts at published reference exchange rates, splits them by the rules on the methodology page, and suggests transfers that settle everyone's balance. It does not move, hold or transmit money, and it is not connected to any bank or payment service.

Numbers are estimates you check

• Reference rates are mid-market figures. What a bank or card actually charged can differ; where you know the charged amount, enter it.
• The results are a suggestion for how a group can settle up. They are not financial, tax or legal advice, and the people involved decide what they pay.
• We work to keep the calculations correct and publish every rule so you can check them, but we cannot promise the site is free of errors or always available.

What you are responsible for

• What you enter, and whom you send a share link to. Anyone with a link can open that settlement.
• Not putting other people's sensitive personal information into trip names or receipt titles.
• Not using the site to store unrelated content, not sending automated or bulk requests to it, and not trying to read settlements whose links you were not given.

Share links

Shared settlements are kept for 365 days and then deleted, as described in the privacy policy. We may remove a stored settlement earlier if it is used for anything other than settling expenses.

Liability

The site is provided free of charge and as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from using it, including a payment made on the basis of a result shown here. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.
